UDs maintains ifs firsf position in Central Africa

Dschang, UDs/SIC-26/10/20. During the 2019/2020 academic year, the University of Dschang has once more maintained its leadership in Cameroon and Central Africa. This evidence is traced notably by two international university ranking: Webometrics and UniRank with evaluation of universities in relation to their presence and activities online with key indicators such as web presence, visibility, web access and measures presented on the web.

The most recent ranking of UniRank, published on October 2020, ranks universities based on different criteria, amongst others based on their online presence and their impact analyzed by search engines. For this ranking, UDs is classified 1^st in Cameroon, 6^th in French Sub-Saharan African and 177^th in Africa amongst the 1,225 officially recognized higher-education institutions. While the January and July 2020 Webometrics ranking (an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab, Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas ) ranks  her 1^st in the Country ahead of the University of Buea and Ngaoundéré, 58^th in Sub-Saharan Africa, 109^th in Africa and 3407^th in the world out of the 30000  ranked universities. This ranking is based on both webometrics and bibliometric indicators; presence (Public knowledge shared), visibility (Web contents Impact), Openness (Top cited researchers) and Excellence (Top cited Papers).

Thus, the University of Dschang occupies the first position in the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) in both ranking systems. This enviable standing is thanks to the Collective Dynamics machinery put in place by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Roger Tsafack Nanfosso, which has never slept on its laurels. As such these ranking systems promotes the presence of Universities on the Web which contributes to quality assurance, an open access initiative to transfer knowledge from the University to the University environs and its societal impact which commences from the immediate, National as well as the International Community.

For the past five years , the University of Dschang has followed strictly the digital governance inscribed in its functioning  which has propelled the visibility of the institution across the world and projected its scientific prowess through online academic (Courses, documentaries…) and  Scientific resources ( articles, publications, books, journals…) . This trend has been boosted by the dedication of university lecturers through their various scientific platforms (social networks, websites, blogs…) that have tremendously contributed to the University of Dschang’s   resounding visibility./ RN
