835 candidates sit for Entrance exams
Dschang, UDs/SIC-18/09/21.In line with order N° 21- 00192 MINESUP/SG/DAUQ/SDEAC/SE of 24th May 2021 to launch the competitive entrance examination into the 1st year of the programme in Biomedical Science of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of Dschang the institution witnessed the practical phase of the competitive entrance examination for the 2021-2022 academic year on Friday 17th September 2021.
A gaze at the University Campus tells the state of preparedness as from the entrance, the security has been tightened and charged with the duty to orientate candidates who are yet to familiarize with the Campus environs. The total number of students for this year are 835, a drop of about two hundred students as compared to last year. In an interview delivered to the media, the Dean of the Faculty submitted that the D-day is a cumulation of efforts which run from the Minister of State to the Vice-Chancellor and then the Dean of the Faculty to realize the endeavor.
The examination, the Dean says is very sensitive as it aims at training future medical experts in different facets of the discipline, a training which builds capacity and experience that is required in a field so peculiar in its demands. The training will last for a period of seven years which is the appropriate time needed to cultivate the successful candidates for this year. The stakes he says are high because in as much as they seek to meet with National demands, international standards must be met as a doctor in Cameroon remains a doctor everywhere in the world. The preparation in line this event was not only psychological but logistical as the halls were ready, security tightened, health coverage ensured with the presence of doctors and nurses at the disposal of students and even orientation. This year wthere was a drop in the number of candidates by over 200 due to the covid pandemic . For this year,a total of 835 candidates sat for the examination; 726 for medicine, 82 for pharmacy and 32 in Ophthalmology All support systems have been put at the disposal of the Faculty in case of an emergency just so that the examination be hitch free. ”.
