Mr Wambo appointed at FECAHAND
20 years of a rich career in coaching propelled Mr Wambo to the apogee
Dschang/UDs/SIC-02-06-16: It is with a lot of pomp and fanfare that the entire university community received the news yesterday, whereby two coaches were appointed as head coaches in Federations, to join Mr LUMUMBA Monikang, the deputy national coach of the Senior Basketball male team. As a sequel of decision No 008/MINSEP/CAB of 31 May 2017, signed by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, appointing national head coaches in the National Federation of Handball (FECAHAND), Mr Wambo Sikadzi Engelbert the head coach of UDs handball team (DUC-Handball) will hence forth be the trainer of the Men’s junior National team. In the same light, decision number 009/MINSEP/CAB of 31 May 2017 by the same signatory appoint Maitre FEZE Alain Clotaire the head coach of Judo (DUC-Judo) as the head coach of the men’s senior judo national team. This long awaited appointment came at a time when UDs is topping all in collective sports. Oh yes! Mr Wambo was applauded by everybody, for he worked so hard to maintain a top coaching exploit. Coach Wambo, who doubles as the chief of Bureau for sports and cultural affairs in the FLSS, has his name written with a golden pen in the University games. He has the highest caps in handball ladies category sweeping 09 gold medals (1998, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2009, 2011, 2012 and recently in 2017 with the men’s category). In the same vein, he has 05 silver medals (1999, 2001, 2007, 2010, 2016). It should be noted that each time he is not on the top most position, he will likely be the 3rd, thus he has 03 bronze medals in total (2008, 2013, 2014).
As for the civil championship with DUC-Hanball, coach Wambo is still a power house. In 1997 he was Cameroon Vice Champion and 6th at the African level. In 1998 he was Cameroon Champion and 5th at the African level. In 1999 he was vice champion again and from 2000-2002 he was 3rd. From 2005-2013, his magic team has dominated the West Region.
