VC kicks off the sporting season with panache
Dschang, UDs/SIC-8/12/18.During the launching speech of the opening ceremony, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Roger Tsafack Nanfosso thanked administrative authorities of the Mbam and Inoubou for their hospitality and praised the illustrious sons of the soil who had made the nation proud with their sporting talents such as Thomas Nkono among others. He appreciated the Head of State, the Minister of Higher Education and all those who contributed enormously in the quest for the creation of the annex in Bafia. The VC advised the athletes to use the sporting season to harness their talents in the various disciplines and to the coaches; to instruct fair play, sanctions, reward and honour victory where necessary. Prof Nanfosso praised the Coordinator of the annex for overcoming the challenges of hosting the launching of the sports season and appreciated the fact that the kick-off of the sporting season which had been delocalized for the past three years ( Bandjoun, Ebolowa and Foumban) has been a success. The head of the Institution highlighted that sports was the 3rd legal economic industry in the world and stated that the Faculty of Sciences for the last sporting season was crowned overall champion. He underscored the value of the inter faculty championship, fitness walk, Dean’s Cup, and departmental cup among others which does not only ameliorate and animate the sporting arena but was also a platform for harmony and solidarity.
The head of the Institution noted that the hosting of the 22nd edition of the University games by the University of Dschang was primordial and called on all stakeholders to join hands together to overcome the challenges of hosting as well as improve on the University’s ranking at the games. He emphasized the decentralized and unique nature of the forthcoming games while calling on all to show a sense of responsibility, honour, tolerance, fair play and discipline. The Vice Chancellor kicked off the opening match between the annex of FASA and the Institute of Fine Arts in a heated football encounter that saw the victory of the Annex.
